Saudi Arabia Govt approved pay cuts for government employees .

The pay cuts were contained in a royal decree which provides that the salaries of ministers would be reduced by twenty percent.

Also, housing and car allowances for members of the advisory Shura Council have been cut by fifteen percent.

The decision is in line with attempts to curtail spending in order to deal with the challenge of low oil prices.

Reports say lower-ranking civil servants would see wage increases suspended, while overtime payments and annual leave benefits would be reduced.
