Saraki set to launch Made-In-Nigeria Challenge by January next year.

Senator SARAKI said the programme is in line with the quest to provide a platform for the promotion of Made in Nigeria products as a means to boost Small and Medium Scale Enterprises in the country.

In a statement signed by his Special Assistant on New Media, BAMIKOLE OMISORE, Senator SARAKI noted that the ‘Made-In-Nigeria Challenge will afford entrepreneurs the opportunity to connect manufacturers of alternatives products as substituted for imported varieties.

The Senate President said the second say of January, 2017 has been designated for the official launch of the Made-In-Nigeria Challenge through his office.

He also promised that the National Assembly would be using legislation to discourage importation of goods that can be produced locally.

Under the initiative; the promoters also intend to take the advocacy directly to Nigerians, as well as work with government agencies to create enabling environment and encourage Nigerians who have eyes for local production of imported substitutes.

The initiative is also being promoted on the Twitter hash tag #MadeinNigeria, which is requesting local manufacturers to post videos of between forty-five seconds to three minutes of any locally produced substitute of imported goods.
