The Chairman of the National Assembly and President of the Senate, Senator BUKOLA ARAKI, said the power sector was sold to individuals who had no idea how to run such investments.
Senator SARAKI made the observation at a workshop on the power sector, which was organised by the National Assembly in Abuja.
The Senate President noted that the mistake of past governments was borne out of ignorance, selfish interests and fraud, which he said has been a major setback against Nigeria’s development.
Senator SARAKI lamented that the power sector, in spite of the enormous resources committed to it over the last fourteen years, had remained in a perilous state.
He said both the legislature and executive must come together to forge a solution to the perennial power problem in Nigeria.
