Some students of the Rivers State University (RSU) stationed at the satellite campus in Emohua Local Government Area have staged a protest to express their frustration over repeated attacks by suspected thieves.
The students marched to the Vice Chancellor’s office in Port Harcourt, calling for their immediate relocation to the main campus for their safety.
One of the students who escaped Monday’s attack recounted her ordeal, describing the persistent insecurity in the area.
Receiving the protesters, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Isaac Zeb-Opibi, assured them that their concerns would be addressed and that the university management was taking the matter seriously.
Meanwhile, an indigene of Emohua LGA, Chizy Enyi, revealed that two persons who attempted to prevent the latest kidnap incident were severely beaten by the attackers. He added that the suspects frequently operate through the Rumodogo route, often assaulting women during their operations.
