The Police Public Relations Officer, OMONI NNAMDI who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed in a statement that a police patrol team had responded to a distress call but was greeted with gunshots from the gang of four hoodlums.
DSP OMONI said during the shootout around 9.30AM, three of the robbers were gunned down, while the fourth escaped with gunshot wounds.
The police spokesman said the gang specialized in car snatching and kidnapping within GRA axis of Port Harcourt.
He said operatives of the police tactical and intelligence team uncovered various exhibits from the hoodlums, including one Automatic Pump Action gun with one live cartridge; one locally made revolver pistol with three lives ammunition, and a Kia Rio saloon car.
