The mandate of the Police Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit is to curb corruption among personnel of the Nigeria Police Force.
Rivers State Commissioner of Police, FRANCIS ODESANYA said the initiative is in line with the new National Orientation campaign tagged “Change Begins With Me” that is being promoted by the APC Administration led by President MUHAMMADU BUHARI.
C.P ODESANYA said the team would be responsible investigation, discipline and prosecution of police officers that are found to have engaged in corrupt practices.
The Commissioner of Police advised policemen and officers under his command to avoid acts of impunity and extortion or they would face the wrath of the law.
Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that the Commissioner of Police also led the police anti-corruption campaign to the Mile One Market and the Spar Shopping Complex in Port Harcourt.
C.P ODESANYA used the occasion to encourage members of the public to buy into the anti-corruption campaign by reporting policemen who engage in acts of corruption.
