The Coordinator of Pilex center for civic education, Nsirimovu Courage who visited the area, stressed the need to check all pipelines across the Niger Delta to avert impending disaster.
Courage while emphasizing the need for thorough clean up in the Niger Delta, insisted that focusing only on Ogoni will not reduce the effect of oil activities in the region.
During the inspection, Courage disclosed that some persons were seen scooping the oil, and also noted the environmental and health hazard of the spillage.
He further charged indigenous and international oil companies to operate with best international practices, adding that their lack of professionalism has continued to cause great harm to the people.
