Rivers State Judiciary Establishes Alternative Dispute Resolution Unit

Justice Amadi who spoke during the handover of the certificate to the two private ADR, said the move is to assist in decongesting the regular court and to provide job opportunity for the people.

The Chief Judge who also commended the effort of the Rivers State Multi Door Courthouse, blamed lawyers for refusing to encourage their clients to visit the Multi Door Courthouse which he said is designed to help speed-up dispensation of justice.

Justice Amadi promise to begin referring some cases to the Multi Door Courthouse, and urge judges to encourage lawyers to take some of their matters to the ADR

In his address, the Director of Rivers State Multi Door Courthouse, Victor Nweke while commending the efforts of the judge in sustaining the multi Door Courthouse, said out of over eighty cases before the multi Door Courthouse, over forty cases have been disposed.

Today FM’S Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that the two Alternative Dispute Resolution issued certificates are Intercede Center for Arbitration and Mediator and Mediation Place which are to operate within Rumuokwuta and GRA Port Harcourt.
