The Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the Ministry of Health, IDONIBOYEOBU OPUBO has also said the proposed health insurance scheme would be made mandatory for all categories of workers in the long run.
Speaking at a one-day workshop in Port Harcourt, OPUBO said the health insurance scheme was intended to provide access to affordable healthcare for people of Rivers State, especially inhabitants of rural communities.
He equally dismissed fears in some quarters, especially those expressed by the labour movement, adding that their concerns have already been taken into consideration in the formulation of the health policy.
