Governor NYESOM WIKE described the probe ordered by the Inspector General of Police as phony, adding that Rivers State will not be part of it.
Governor WIKE claims that the Police deliberately murder people and is turning around to investigate based of an alleged predetermined goal.
The State Governor gave this indication during a thanksgiving service at Our Lady Chaplaincy of the Catholic Institute of West Africa.
He also accused the Police High Command of disregarding his petition against Assistant Commissioner of Police, STEVEN HASSO and the Commander of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, AKIN FAKOREDE.
Governor WIKE said the panel is a mere booby trap meant to indict PDP members.
You will recall that the Police High Command ordered the investigation based on the revelation by the Independent National Electoral Commission that over seventy incidents of deliberate obstruction of the rerun elections.
In a statement released over the weekend by Force Public Relations Officer, DONALD AWUNAH, the Inspector General of Police, MOHAMMED IDRIS, ordered the investigation team to unravel those behind the reported incidents.
The police detectives are also mandated to carryout forensic analysis on a leaked audio purported to have captured a telephone conversation between Governor NYESOM WIKE and some persons involved in a plot to rig the rerun elections.
The Police High Command enjoined the Rivers State Government and INEC to avail the investigative team with facts at their disposal and cooperate with the detectives to ensure a conclusive investigation.
The statement noted that the investigative panel, which is headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, has thirty days to complete its assignment and submit a report.
