Rivers State Governor, NYESOME WIKE, has summoned a meeting with Caretaker Chairmen of the twenty-three local government areas across the state.
There are no details about the purpose of the meeting, but insinuations abound that the discussion could be in connection with the expiration of the tenure of the local government caretaker committees after three months.Meanwhile; the member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Port Harcourt Constituency One, VICTORIA NYECHE has opposed any attempt to reconstitute local government caretaker committees.VICTORIA NYECHE who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress cited the law that provides for the Head of Local Government Administration to assume responsibility of the council, since there is no duly constituted House of Assembly to screen caretaker committee members.The APC lawmaker, who spoke in an interview with correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR, said the remaining members of the House of Assembly whose election were affirmed cannot form a quorum to perform any legislative business.VICTORIA NYECHE is the member representing Port Harcourt Constituency One in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
