Rivers state government set to launch youth development policy

Governor Wike spoke during a Youth Summit by the State National Youth Council of Nigeria on the Theme: Linking the Future of Rivers Youth to the Dreams of our Founding Fathers.

The governor who was represented by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Youth and development, Rowland Whyte, said the policy will make the people understand the importance of youths, and equally enable them to know their role in the society.

In his address, the former Chief of Staff, Chief Tony Okocha who was the chairman of the occasion, charge the youths to discountenance the lure by those he described as failed and desperate politicians who maraud the villages, communities and towns, preaching against the interest of the people.

Okocha also advised the youths of the state to resist roughshod that will threaten the existence of Rivers State.

Today FM’s Uchendu Ejiowhor reports that the State Chairman of NYCN, Chijioke Ihunwo in his speech, stressed the need for the youths to come out en masse to vote candidates that will have the interest of the youths at heart.
