Rivers State Government Prioritizes Citizens’ Health with Free Medical Outreach

This was emphasized by the State Commissioner for Health, Doctor Adaeze Oreh, during the launch of a medical outreach titled, “Two Days Governor Siminalayi Fubara Comprehensive Free Surgical and Medical Outreach” holding in Isiokpo, the headquarters of Ikwerre Local Government Area.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health, Doctor Mekele Igwe, Doctor Oreh, highlighted that the outreach, which is organized by the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) in collaboration with the Nigerian Medical Association, the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHIP), the Ministry of Health, and the Primary Healthcare Management Board, is for the health and the good of Rivers people.

On his part, the Chief Medical Director of RSUTH, Professor Chizindu Alikor, encouraged residents of Ikwerre LGA to take full advantage of the opportunity provided by Governor Siminalayi Fubara, while assuring that the state government is working to activate primary healthcare facilities in all twenty three Local Government Areas.

On her part, the Acting Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme, Doctor Vetty Agala, announced that every beneficiary of the outreach would be automatically enrolled in the state’s health insurance programme, receiving free coverage for the next year.

Today FM reports that a large number of residents gathered at the primary healthcare center in Adanta, Isiokpo, to receive medical services, including surgeries, dental care, eye care, and other essential healthcare services.
