Today FM’S Uchendu Ejiowhor gathered that the Kula sand filling project which was initially awarded by the immediate past governor in 2018, suffered huge set back due to failure of the then government to release funds.
While inspecting the level of work done, the Rivers State permanent secretary, ministry of special project, Rowland Obed-White said the administration of governor Siminalayi Fubara will ensure the completion of the project.
Obed-White commended the contractor handling the project for his resilience and refusal to abandon the work, despite being starved of funds.
Obed-White further said the Kula land reclamation project is yet another testament that the previous administration left chunks of abandoned projects behind most of which Governor Fubara is now funding.
Some indigenes and residents of Kula who came out in their numbers singing praises of Governor Fubara and the contractor, expressed relief that the project is finally coming to actualization.
The land reclamation project, when completed, will add fourteen point four hectares of land to the Kula territory, providing more space for development and economic viability.
