The Director of Environmental Health Safety Department in the Ministry of Environment, Alabo Mparkabiari George said food sanitation, waste management and health must be the priority of every hotel management in the state.
Alabo George who spoke during his presentation at a one day Security, Health, Safety and Environment Workshop by Nigeria Hotel Association in collaboration and the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism as well as the Ministry of Special Duties, urged hotel management to ensure that sources of bottle water given to guest are registered and approved by the appropriate authority.
Alabo George while directing compulsory employment of health officers in every hotel in the state to ensure proper health environment management, stressed the need for regular sanitary inspection of every department in hotels.
Speaking in an interview with Today FM, Chairman of Nigeria Hotel Association; Eugene Nwauzi said the workshop is aimed at ensuring that management of hotels get things done rightly in the interest of the industry.
