Rivers State Amnesty Programme taking shape as team visit more LGA’s

Last week we brought you a report about some suspected cultists who came out from their hideouts in Emohua Local Government to signify their intention to embrace the offer.

This week, the Amnesty Train led by the Special Adviser to the Governor, KEN CHINDA stopped in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area.

During the outing at ONELGA, some persons who claim to be members of Greenlanders, Icelanders and Niger Delta Force came out to embrace the offer of amnesty.

The ceremony was also witnessed by the Eze Egi the Third of Ogbaland, Eze ANELE NWOKOMA, who promised to ensure that the needs of the repentant cultists are met in line with the amnesty offer of the state.

Our correspondent who joined the group, reports that one CHRISTOPHER OGALUZOR, who introduced himself as Egi Pilot, spoke on behalf of repentant members of Iceland cult group.

However; OGALUZOR said his group needs to engage in further negotiation with the State Government before they can reach an agreement on the restoration of peace and security in the area.

Another acclaimed cultist, who identified himself as FRANKLIN NNAGI and spoke on behalf of the Greenlanders, stressed the need for educational development and scholarship for members of his group.

In his response; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Amnesty, KEN CHINDA said the amnesty program was meant to offer a second chance to young people involved in anti-social activities.

KEN CHINDA also read an affidavit to the repentant cults as a mark of renunciation of their membership such groups.

Our correspondent who was at the camp of the cultists in ONELGA also reports that different cult groups met and agreed to reconcile in the interest of peace and security in the area.
