”Rivers State Amnesty Programme has ended andno plans to extend it -Committee.

The Amnesty Programme Implementation Committee headed by Sir KENNETH CHINDA is expected to submit its report to Governor NYESOM WIKE.

The Amnesty Committee was inaugurated on Friday, 12th September, and members of the committed have since then toured several communities across the state, mopping up arms and enlisting repentant cultists and criminals.

The last set of cultists to turn in their weapons includes those from Ozuoba in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.

One NNAM OSIPOLO also led members of his Iceland group from Emuoha community to surrender to the Amnesty Committee on the last day of the disarmament exercise.

The repentant cultist from Ozuoba surrendered one Light Machine Gun, one G3 rifle, one AK-47 rifle, one Pump Action Gun and three English-made pistols.

The Amnesty Committee also mopped up two Submachine guns, one G3 rifle, two AK-47 rifle, three Pump Action Guns, two Dane guns, one locally-made pistol, as well as assorted rifle magazines and army camouflage from the Iceland group in Emohua.
