In an interview with Today FM’s Olawale Sanusi, Akandu lauded the strategic move as a crucial step towards ensuring food sufficiency for the people of Niger State.
He emphasized that Governor Bago’s decision should not be viewed as an insensitive act, but rather as a proactive measure to safeguard food security in his domain, and urged other governors to emulate the act.
Meanwhile, the National President of Niger Delta Integrated Farmers, Julius Okpeha, weighed in on the escalating cost of food commodities in the market.
Okpeha emphasized that amidst the current challenges faced by Nigerians, the only effective measures to address the rising cost of food commodities hangs on a comprehensive government intervention programme which will aim at empowering productivity in the agro sector.
