Rivers Post-Election Crisis Is ‘Nothing Abnormal’ – Wike

Recall that the governorship candidate of the APC, Patrick Tonye-Cole was said to have been attacked by political thugs operating on the orders of the PDP, at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, when he went to collect the Certified True Copy of the March 18 governorship election.

Wike, who spoke during a media chat in Port Harcourt yesterday, stated that PDP was simply being on alert to avoid a recurrence of an incident in the aftermath of the 2015 elections.

He argued that since every party is entitled to the documents that were used in conducting elections, having applied to INEC, the PDP needs to ensure it is receiving what others are.

Governor Wike also criticized the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau; and human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, over their calls for the release of APC lawyers arrested in the state.

Wike argued that the police should have been encouraged to investigate the lawyers.
