The Nigeria Police Force has commenced a training programme for officers on fraud investigation and forensic techniques to improve evidence-based investigations and prosecutions.
Speaking at the opening of the two-day training in Rivers State, Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju described the programme as a key component of ongoing police reforms being driven by the Inspector-General of Police.
He encouraged participants to actively engage in the sessions and apply the knowledge acquired in their daily duties.
Convener of the programme, Dr. Pearl Chidinma Ogbulu, commended the Police High Command for its commitment to transforming the Force. A forensic accounting and security expert, Dr. Stacy Ann Nwodo, also stressed the importance of proper crime scene management and evidence gathering in ensuring justice.
The training is expected to enhance the investigative capacity of participating officers and strengthen the Force’s ability to handle fraud-related cases.
