Rivers police dismiss security alert report in Eneka

The command in a statement noted that the purported threats of recurrent attacks by an Unidentified Armed Group within the Eneka axis in Port Harcourt resulting in an unascertained number of casualties including ten fatalities is false, baseless and not verifiable.

According to the statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police said the report only exists in the imagination of mischief-makers, saying that preliminary investigation carried out, including interfaces and interviews within the Eneka axis in Port Harcourt revealed that no such thing happened.

The statement said it became necessary to clarify that no Individuals and businesses reported a case of attacks by an Unidentified Armed Group to the command and urged the public to disregard the report intended to cause chaos in Rivers state.

Iringe-Koko revealed that the Commissioner of Police in Rivers, Nwonyi  Polycarp-EMeka has ordered an investigation into the report and has warned purveyors of fake news to desist forthwith or face prosecution.
