Rivers Police command parades 5 criminal suspects operating around Waterline.

Items recovered from the suspects include one flat-screen television set, nine assorted mobile phones, two i-Pads, car keys, and undisclosed amount of money in local and foreign currencies.

Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR spoke with some of the suspects during the public parade, but while some confessed involvement in criminal activities, others claimed innocence.

The Police Public Relations Officer, NNAMDI OMONI, told newsmen at the Command Headquarters on Moscow Road, that the suspects were arrested by men of the Tactical Unit during a raid on a hotel around Mile Three.

OMONI, who is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the suspects were sharing their loot when men of the Tactical Unit stormed the hotel and apprehended them.

He said the hoodlums had attacked a motorist around Waterline end of the Port Harcourt-Aba Road and stole his belongings.

D.S.P OMONI said the suspects have made confessions that detectives are now using to track down other members of the criminal gang.

The PPRO also said the command has intensified patrols in view of rising cases of kidnapping, including the abduction of two workers in the Rivers State Judiciary around Isiokpo and one Doctor ALEX AKANI who was kidnapped at Rumuekini in Obio-Akpor.

D.S.P NNAMDI OMONI pleaded with the Nigerian Medical Association to allow the command some time in ongoing efforts to rescue Doctor AKANI and other medical practitioners in the hands of kidnappers.
