Rivers Moves to Expand Youth Employment Through Bonny Engagement

The Rivers State Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment has intensified efforts to expand job opportunities for youths across the state.

As part of the initiative, the Commissioner, Dr. Chisom Kenneth Gbali, paid a visit to the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Grand Bonny, His Majesty King Edward Asemini Williams Dappa Pepple III.

Dr. Gbali said the visit was aimed at securing royal collaboration and institutional support to deepen engagement with multinational oil and gas companies operating in Bonny, with a focus on youth employment and empowerment.

He noted that Bonny remains one of Nigeria’s major oil and gas hubs, stressing the need to better harness its economic potential to benefit host communities and provide sustainable jobs for Rivers people.

In his response, King Edward Dappa Pepple III commended the initiative and pledged full support toward inclusive economic growth and employment opportunities for Rivers indigenes.

Also speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the Bonny Council of Chiefs, Se-Alabo Dagogo Soala Claude-Wilcox, highlighted creativity, skills acquisition, innovation, and entrepreneurship as key drivers of youth empowerment.
