Rivers Liberation Movement DG Urges Youth to Lead Political Coalition, Warns Against Prolonged APC Rule

The Director General of the Rivers State Liberation Movement, Dr. Leloonu Nwbubasa, has called on Nigerian youth to take an active leadership role in the emerging coalition movement aimed at reclaiming political power for the people.

Speaking during a radio programme, Dr. Nwbubasa said the time had come for young people to rise above tribal, religious, and partisan lines to champion a movement rooted in citizens’ welfare and democratic accountability.

He warned that allowing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to retain power beyond the 2027 general elections would spell disaster for millions of Nigerians. “The consequences of APC remaining in power past 2027 will be catastrophic,” he said, noting that urgent political reformation is needed to avert national decline.

Dr. Nwbubasa also openly admitted that those who facilitated the rise of the APC to power made a historic error. “It was a grave mistake. Those who played a role in installing the APC government owe Nigerians an apology,” he stated.

Responding to criticisms and growing attacks on the new coalition, the DG accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of spearheading efforts to weaken the opposition and sabotage the people’s movement.

“He is leading the charge to destroy the opposition and keep power in the hands of a select few,” Dr. Nwbubasa said.

The Rivers State Liberation Movement is one of the key groups driving the nationwide coalition, which has pledged to prioritize equity, good governance, and citizen-focused leadership ahead of the 2027 polls.
