NMERUKINI also confirmed that eighty percent of accounts of local government have been garnished in court due to litigation against the councils.
The Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission also clarified that local government workers in Rivers State are not owed salaries.
However, AZUBUIKE NMERUKINE observed that many local government staff often do not go to work, adding that steps were being taken to ensure that those who do not work are not paid.
