AWARA is challenging the victory of Governor NYESOM WIKE of the People’s Democratic Party as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission on the March 9th Governorship election in Rivers State.
The AAC Governorship candidate who entered the witness box to testify before the tribunal said he was not defeated at the election.
AWARA however admitted that not all the local government results he presented to the court have the polling unit results’ adding that violence broke out in some areas which he said was confirmed by INEC leading to the suspension of election.
He told the three man panel led by KINGSLEY OJIAKOR that the results of the election he presented were from the local government that were announced and that he was clearly leading with a wide margin before INEC suspended the process and was surprised when the commission declared Governor WIKE as the winner.
Speaking to newsmen, counsel to AWARA, EMEMIKE EBETE said they expect the tribunal to do justice in the matter.
On his part, counsel to Governor WIKE, DIKE UDENNA disclosed what transpired in court.
Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR reports that the tribunal adjourned till today, for AAC to open its case.
