The Rivers State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth, development, and welfare of the state’s civil service, describing the public service as the engine room of effective governance and national development.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara made the commitment while hosting delegates attending the 48th National Council on Establishments at a state banquet in Government House, Port Harcourt. Represented by his deputy, Professor Ngozi Nma-Odu, the governor said Rivers State was honoured to host the council, noting that the meeting was significant as it is expected to be the last to be presided over by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, before the end of her tenure. He commended Walson-Jack for her outstanding service, describing her as a seasoned administrator whose leadership and reforms have made significant contributions to the development of Nigeria’s public service.
In her remarks, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, praised Governor Fubara for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of civil servants and the improvement of their working conditions. She said the governor’s support for hosting the National Council on Establishments demonstrated his recognition of the critical role of the civil service in promoting effective governance and sustainable development.
