The command said while no life was lost, damage was done to the front of the building, and samples from the site of the explosion have been taken for further forensic investigation.
The Command Public Relations officer, Superintendent of Police, Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement said operatives of the Command have been detailed to intensify investigate and apprehend all suspects involved in this incident.
SP Iringe-Koko said the move became necessary following eyewitness accounts that two men had alighted from a vehicle parked few maters away from the APP Secretariat, walked to the building, ignited the suspected device and throw it at the structure, went back to the vehicle and drove off.
On the previous explosion that occurred close to the Presidential Hotel along the Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway on June 25th, the statement revealed that the arrested suspect, Preye Josiah popularly called Metusah, a native of Kabiama Community of Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayalsa State, who sustained serious injuries has since been undergoing treatment.
SP Iringe-Koko said investigation revealed Josiah had been on the Police wanted list for participating in some high-profile bank robberies alongside one Daniel Gogo, popularly known as Payment, between 2012 and 2016.
The statement further identified Josiah, who is a member of the Vikings Confraternity and was evasive to Police arrest, as the dynamite detonating expert of the gang.
According to the statement, the commissioner of police Olatunji Disu who said the suspect will soon be charged to a Court of competent jurisdiction, urged members of the public to be vigilant when such cases of explosion occur and to steer clear of the vicinity, as there is a tendency of another device being present.
