The Rivers Elders Consultative Council also called on politicians to continue to play by the rules and accept the outcome of the re-run elections in the interest of stability and growth of the Nigeria’s democracy.
Speaking to newsmen at the end of the group’s last quarter meeting for the year in Port Harcourt, the Executive Secretary of the Rivers Elders Consultative Council, Chief GRANVILLE ABIYE GEORGEWILL said the elders were united in their opinion of the gains made in the area of infrastructural development and peace in the state.
In a related development, the Coalition of Rivers Patriots also joined other well-meaning citizens of Rivers state to advise politicians to appreciate one another and embrace peace.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt by the Coalition’s spokesman, Barrister THOMPSON BARILEDE, the group urged politicians to demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship and embrace one another irrespective of who won the elections.
