This special release is tagged: Christmas gift to the inmates by the number one judicial officer in the state.
In a statement signed by the Chief registrar of the state High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi, the special goal delivery exercise was in fulfilment of the promise of the chief judge, during the last exercise held last month.
The statement revealed that, justice Chibuzor-Amadi had directed three chief magistrates to carry out the exercise which held last week, adding that the exercise was part of the sustained efforts by the state judiciary to further decongest the correctional centres.
The statement further disclosed that the released inmates are those who were held for minor offences as well as those who have stayed longer than their sentence years, if they were convicted, and that the inmates were advised to cherish their release as a Christmas gift from the state chief judge and be of good behavior.
