Despite criticisms trailing the conduct of the forthcoming local government elections in Rivers State, the Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Amadi, has inaugurated chairmen and members of the Local Government Election Tribunals.
At the ceremony, Justice Amadi charged the tribunal members to treat all parties equally while remaining firm in the discharge of their duties. He explained that his decision to constitute the tribunals was backed by the Rivers State Local Government Election Tribunals Law of 2000 as amended, which empowers him to act in the absence of any court judgment against the polls.
Chief Magistrate Kilsi Giadom will chair the Rivers East senatorial district tribunal, while Chief Magistrate Harry Sotonye Linda takes charge of Rivers South East, and Chief Magistrate Chimenem Okekem will oversee Rivers West.
