Rivers APC Kicks Against Global Human Settlements Outstanding Contribution Award on Governor Nyesom Wike

Governor WIKE made the pledge after receiving Global Human Settlements Outstanding Contribution Award in faraway New York, in the United States of America.
The award was presented to Governor WIKE and twenty-two others from different parts of the world different categories during the 12th Global Forum on Human Settlements and Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Awards Ceremony.
A statement released by the Government House in Port Harcourt indicates that Governor WIKE was honoured for his outstanding achievements in the area of urban renewal, sustainable cities and provision of basic amenities to residential areas of the state.
However; the main opposition All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has picked holes in the award bestowed on Governor WIKE, claiming that it was a scam.
State Publicity Secretary of APC, CHRIS FINEBONE gave this indication based on inquiries to the United Nations-Habitat Headquarters in New York, which liaises with development partners on UN Sustainable Development Goals.
FINEBONE disclosed in a statement the UN-Habitat informed that the Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Award which Governor WIKE received does not have the backing of the United Nations.
The APC spokesman cited a response to the parties inquiry through an email from ANGEL GÓMEZ, who is the Secretary and IT Focal Point at the UN-Habitat office in New York.
The Rivers APC spokesman also criticized Governor NYESOM WIKE on the recent announcement of the release of one million US Dollars for the payment of tuition of Rivers students on scholarship overseas.
CHRIS FINEBONE said the announcement was only meant to stop a protest against Governor WIKE during his outing at the Chatham House in London on Monday next week.
