Governor WIKE reportedly told the Synod of Anglican Diocese of Etche on Sunday that the Federal Government under the leadership of President MUHAMADU BUHARI had resorted to cutting the monthly allocation of the Rivers State Government in a bid to frustrate his administration.
The Rivers APC said Governor WIKE told the Anglican clergy a white lie instead of keeping it honest with Rivers people by acknowledging that he had borrowed away the monthly allocations of Rivers State and the future of the peoples.
In the second statement released by the State Publicity Secretary of APC, CHRIS FINEBONE, the Rivers APC reminded Governor WIKE how he had embarked on indiscriminate borrowing at cut-throat interest rate from Nigerian commercial banks.
FINEBONE noted that the Governor’s borrowing spree was carried out irrespective of the fact that the election petition of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, DAKUKU PETERSIDE, was still subsisting in court.
The APC spokesman recalled that the party had consistently raised the alarm that the governor was borrowing away and mortgaging the future of Rivers people, but the warning was brushed aside by the Governor.
In its previous statement on the Governor WIKE’s comment in Etche, the Rivers APC said the Governor lied when he claimed that the past Administration was receiving between twenty-five and thirty billion naira monthly allocations while he was getting less than ten.
The APC also blamed Governor WIKE for the dwindling revenue allocations to Rivers State based on his alleged role in the ceding of oil wells from the state to neighbouring states while he was serving as a minister under former President GOODLUCK JONATHAN.
