Okocha had in one of his media outings in Today FM, claimed that as the leader of APC, he led the campaign that saw the emergence of President Bola Tinubu.
The State Youth Leader of the APC, Baridakara Gbarato who spoke on behalf of the party elected executives, in reaction to the comment by Okocha, said it is self-indicting for Okocha to claim to be the leader of the party, but recognizes senator Magnus Abe as the leader of the Social Democratic Party by the virtue of his position as the Governorship candidate of the party.
