This time; Governor WIKE intends to take the additional loan from Zenith Bank PLC to fund the renovation of General Hospitals and Secondary Schools across the state.
According to an executive correspondence read on the floor of the House by the Speaker; Governor WIKE said the nine billion naira loan facility will be serviced with proceeds from the State Government’s investment in Indorama.
During the debate that followed the reading of the Governor’s letter; the state lawmakers encouraged the Governor to take the loan since it as meant to fund capital projects in the 2016 Appropriation.
Our Correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA reports that the nine billion naira loan request was approved immediately through a unanimous vote.
The Rivers State House of Assembly thereafter adjourned plenary till Tuesday next week.
