Rights Activist Urges Fubara to Protect Permanent Secretaries’ Quarters from Politicians

Rights activist Charles Jaja has called on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to safeguard the newly inaugurated quarters for Permanent Secretaries, warning against possible encroachment by politicians.

Jaja emphasized that urgent steps must be taken to protect the facility from being converted to private use, stressing that such legacy projects should serve their intended public purpose.

He further advised the state government to enact legislation that would prevent politicians from secretly acquiring government property through illicit means.

The activist recalled that between 2015 and 2023, Rivers State witnessed widespread and forceful conversion of civil servants’ property for private purposes, urging that lessons be learned to avoid a repeat scenario.
