One of the indigenes of Rumuji who spoke to our correspondent on telephone at the scene of the protest alleged that his brother was shot by the police who took him to a hospital where he finally died.
Our source who identified himself as GODSPOWER AGALA said they were informed at the hospital that the police came and took the victim away when his health condition became worse, and added that they had come to the police station to demand for the corpse of WANUSIKE who he described as innocent and to know the reason for his killing.
When our correspondent contacted the Divisional Police officer in charge of Rumuji police station who also confirmed the incident, he said they had addressed the situation, adding that the people had seen reasons for peace, just as he disclosed that the officer, simply identified as Sergeant LUIS who carried out the act had been under detention.
He further disclosed that there was an ongoing meeting with the community chiefs and elders to restore lasting peace.
