Residents of Diobu Demand Total Power Shutdown Over Lingering Electricity Faults

Residents of Diobu in Port Harcourt have staged a protest, demanding an immediate shutdown of electricity supply to the area until the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHEDC) addresses persistent faults affecting their power supply.

The protesters, who marched to the PHEDC office, complained of enduring months of poor electricity, including constant rationing between the two 11kV feeders serving the community. They said the situation worsened after a faulty panel and breaker reduced supply to just one day.

In a letter to the PHEDC Chief Executive Officer, the residents called for a total power shutdown across the Diobu corridor until the faulty panel is repaired. They also accused PHEDC of failing to meet the regulatory Band D standard of eight to twelve hours of electricity supply daily.
