Our correspondent UCHENDU EJIOWHOR was at Idama community in Akuku Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State when the team of sixteen lawmakers touched down onboard a helicopter at the platform of an indigenous oil company.
Addressing newsmen at the site, the Chairman of the House Committee, GIDEON WANI said the investigation was meant to determine the actual number of oil companies operating within the region.
GIDEON WANI also said his Committee has the mandated to retrieve oil licenses from companies that did not follow due process, and to reallocate such to indigenous companies.
In an interview with our correspondent on the sideline of the visit, the Rivers State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, SUKUBO SARA-IGBE stressed the need for encouragement for more indigenous oil companies.
