Chairman of the committee, Oluwole Oke, stated this in Abuja at the committee’s investigative hearing on audit queries issued by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation against ministries, departments, and agencies of the Federal Government.
The committee had interrogated the representative of the Accountant General of the Federation, Ezeh Ekwueme, who appeared before the panel to explain the unauthorized deductions from Federation Account by revenue-generating agencies in the year under review.
OKE said it was inappropriate for the NNPC to access the funds without being questioned by the appropriate agencies.
The committee also queried the accountant-general over the lack of full details on the aids and grants released to agencies, amounting to six point six billion naira in the same year.
Subsequently, the lawmakers asked the accountant-general to provide a comprehensive list of beneficiaries of the donations.
