The Rivers Emancipation Movement (REM) has called on the Rivers State House of Assembly to carefully consider the implications of the delay in screening and confirming commissioner nominees forwarded by the state governor.
The national president of REM, Zoe Solomon Tamunotonye, said although Siminalayi Fubara may have made an oversight by dissolving his Executive Council before submitting a fresh list of nominees, the prolonged delay in screening the nominees is now affecting governance activities across the state.
Tamunotonye argued that the situation is not holding the governor hostage but is instead impacting the people of Rivers State, who depend on effective government administration for development and service delivery.
He also advised Governor Fubara to reassess his political strategy and ensure he is surrounded by experienced advisers capable of helping him navigate the state’s political environment.
The REM national president further called on civil society actors, community leaders, and other concerned citizens to consider forming a “Third Force Movement” aimed at promoting responsible governance and safeguarding public interest in the state.
