Protest in Port Harcourt as Policeman kills young Keke rider for refusal to pay N100 bribe

Some tricycle riders who spoke with our correspondent said the police officers had shot the young boy on his chin for refusing to pay the sum of N100.

 

 

The respondents alleged that more people were allegedly killed by the police, including two women when the angry tricycle riders marched to the Rumuokoro police station.

 

Our correspondent Ifunanya Obeme-Ndukwe reports that men of the Nigerian Police arrived at Rumuodomaya and Rukpokwu, arresting passers-by and shooting sporadically in the area.

 

 

A group of angry tricycle riders had earlier this morning blocked some roads in Rumuodomaya and Rukpokwu areas of the state over the death of one of their member, stopping vehicles from moving, leaving workers stranded on the road.

 

 

Reacting to incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Command Nnamdi Omoni who confirmed the incident said the police man involved has been disarmed as he called for peace in the area adding that the matter is being investigated.
