Our correspondent CHINEDU IWUNNA reports that the retirees had planned to barricade the State Ministry of Finance office in Port Harcourt over unpaid pension.
It took the intervention of the Chairman of the NLC, BEATRICE ITUBO and that of the Joint Public Negotiating Council EMECHETA CHUKWU to calm the aggrieved retirees.
ITUBO, who confirmed the development to our correspondent, said the intervention was in the spirit of the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Rivers State Government.
She noted that the state government has not done very well on the payment of pension of retirees, stressing that the NLC would continue to agitate for adequate welfare for retired workers.
That was the Rivers State NLC chairman, BEATRICE ITUBO.
