President, Vice present, governors and ministers salaries may be slash as commission move for a review

This is according to the Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, ELIAS MBAM.

MBAM who made this known to newsmen in Abuja, said the commission has started preliminary work on the review of the pay package of political office holders which could go up or down after the process.

MBAM said the review would align the remuneration of the political office holders with current realities in the country.

It would interest you to know that Nigerian political office holders are reputed to be among the highest paid in the world despite the country’s revenue challenges.

Currently, Nigeria’s President and Vice President earn three million naira monthly while Governors and Deputy Governors earn a little over two million naira.

Federal Ministers earn two million naira, Minister of States and Special Advisers earn one point nine million naira, while Commissioners earn one point three million naira.

All the salaries are basic without other allowances and esta codes during foreign trips.
