President Tinubu Confers National Honour on Bill Gates During Lagos Visit

President Bola Tinubu has formally conferred the prestigious national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on renowned Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist, Bill Gates. The ceremony took place on Tuesday in Lagos, amid Gates’ ongoing visit to Nigeria aimed at discussing vital health and development initiatives.

During the event, President Tinubu personally presented the medal of honour to Gates, recognizing his significant contributions to global health and development. Photos from the ceremony show the President in the act of bestowing the award, with prominent Nigerian businessman Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest man and founder of the Dangote Group, also in attendance.

Gates’s visit to Nigeria is part of a broader effort to strengthen collaborations on health programs, including efforts to combat infectious diseases and improve healthcare infrastructure across the country. The conferment of the national honour underscores Nigeria’s appreciation of Gates’s philanthropic work and his commitment to supporting Nigeria’s development goals.
