President MUHAMMADU BUHARIA yesterday declared open a retreat his incoming ministers, with all thirty-six designated ministers who were confirmed by the Senate in attendance.
Flagging-off the event at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, President BUHARI told the incoming ministers to consider themselves lucky to have been selected to form part of his cabinet.
In a speech entitled “Delivering Change from Precepts to Practice”, President BUHARI underscored key focus areas of his administration, including diversification of the economy, tackling of insecurity and stepping up the fight against corruption.
He said with the diversification policy, government will shift attention to mining and agriculture, while physical and social infrastructure will be upgraded.
The President challenged the ministers-designate to draw from their expertise in contributing to the success of his administration.
He said the ministers should also key into the vision of his administration to cut cost of governance, conserve resource and avoid wastage.
President BUHARI also stressed the need for the ministers to observe the rule of law in a bid to stamp out impunity from the system.
