President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has welcomed an offer by the Islamic Development Bank to organize a financing roundtable in Abuja in a bid to mobilize funds for investment and development of infrastructure in Nigeria.

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has welcomed an offer by the Islamic Development Bank to organize a financing roundtable in Abuja in a bid to mobilize funds for investment and development of infrastructure in Nigeria.President BUHARI received the offer from the IDB President, Doctor AHMED MOHAMMED ALI during a meeting in Mecca in continuation of his official visit to Saudi Arabia.Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU, confirmed the development in a statement obtained by our correspondent.The Presidential spokesman said the IDB President assured President BUHARI that the bank will work with the Saudi Fund, the Kuwait Fund, Arab Bank for Development in Africa and the Abu Dhabi Fund to increase funding to Nigeria.On his part; President BUHARI assured of the determination of the Nigerian government to rapidly revamp and diversify the economy.BUHARI declared that days of Nigeria as a big oil producer with plenty of money are gone.He said what the Nigerian government needs is all the support it can get to diversify the economy as quickly as possible.President BUHARI also made a case for urgent need to rehabilitate infrastructure, develop domestic capacity on food production for local consumption and export.BUHARI also welcomed a proposal by the Islamic Development Bank to fast-track Bilingual Education Program, which is aimed at integrating the Almajiri system of education with Western education in Nigeria.The statement disclosed that the IDB has already provided ninety-eight million US dollars to the take-off of the Bilingual Education Program in Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Kwara, Nasarawa, Niger, Osun and Yobe states, with plans to support similar projects in other states of Nigeria.
