President DILMA ROUSSEFF of Brazil could be on her way out, as a congressional committee has voted for impeachment proceedings against her to proceed.

President ROUSSEFF has been under pressure over claims she manipulated government accounts to hide a growing deficit.Reports say thirty-eight of the sixty-five voted in favour of the move, against twenty-seven opposing members. The lower house of Congress is expected to put a final seal on the impeachment when it votes on 17th and 18th of April. With a two-thirds majority at the lower house, the matter would then be sent to the Senate which has the power to suspend President ROUSSEFF, put her on trial and ultimately drive her from office. The latest move comes in spite of a Monday night protest by thousands of supporters of President ROUSSEFF in Rio de Janeiro.
