Justice ONNOGHEN’s appointment is in accordance with section two hundred and thirty, sub-section of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
He replaced Justice MAHMUD MOHAMMED who retired yesterday as Chief Justice of NIgeria, after attaining the mandatory retirement age of seventy years.
The President may regularize the appointment of Justice ONNOGHEN within the next thirty days.
