Power: SERAP report indicts Agagu,Imoke,Nebo.

They include former Governor of Ondo State, Chief SEGUN AGAGU; former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Senator LIYEL IMOKE, and Professor CHINEDU NEBO.

 

All three former ministers held office between 1999 and 2015, under former Presidents OLUSEGUN OBASANJO, late UMARU YAR’ADUA and GOODLUCK JONATHAN.

 

The report released by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP, indicates that the sum of eleven trillion naira was pumped into the power sector by the successive governments without much to show for it.

 

In its conclusion, SERAP noted that policy inconsistencies helped to encourage corruption and ineptitude in the power sector. 

 

SERAP has therefore requested the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, FATOU BENSOUDA, to investigate the allegations of widespread in the power sector and determine whether such do not amount to crimes against humanity within the jurisdiction of the ICC.

 

There has not been any reaction from any of the former ministers named in the report, nor the past presidents who presided over the government at the time of the alleged fraud in the power sector.
